In the afternoon of April 10, the thirty-fourth Tsinghua University “Challenge Cup” students extracurricular academic and technological competition was held. A project from PCG named “Miss Cut”, which is a Chinese text mistake correction technology based on big data and user input modeling, won the highest number of judges’ votes and got the Top Prize (Top 1 among all teams). The project was led by an undergraduate student Xingyu Pan from our lab and supervised by Chun Yu and Yeshuang Zhu.

The China-US Maker Competition “Co-Making the Future” intended to stimulate innovation among Chinese and American students. Some students from our group participated in the competition. Their work “Muse”, a magnetic levitation DJ interaction sets, stood out of all the entries and got the second prize.

CHI, which is the top conference for Human-Computer Interaction, is a place to see, discuss and learn about the future of how people interact with technology. To broaden our horizons and get the chance to talk with and even get advice from the research and industry authorities, all of us from the pervasive computing and human-computer interaction group went to CHI2015 in Korea and learned a lot.

Chinese CHI is Chinese leading forum for research in all areas of Human-Computer Interaction. It attracts an international community of practitioners, researchers, academics and students from a wide range of discipline. Yingxue Zhang, one of our master students, built a system called ChinAR, to help people with learning Chinese Guqin with augmented reality technology. Her paper got the best paper reward.
